“Last Resort” is to be an exciting, thought-provoking, visually stunning, Action/Adventure that combines deep themes with fast paced action. We aim to create a commercially viable film that has potential to become both an award winning film and a viral breakout hit along the lines of “Twilight” or “Mad Max”. A Day at the Races meets The Sting

In a scam gone horribly wrong Jake and his girlfriend Nina kill Jimmy, their dealer - shot in the head with his own gun. After dumping his body in a nearby cemetery they realize his car  - a powder blue MG sports convertible - is still outside their house; but when they return to get the keys Jimmy's body is gone: stolen by a couple of teenagers who intend using the corpse for a prank on their school principle.

In an effort to get the spare key for the MG Jake and Nina accidentally kidnap Jimmy's girlfriend - Simone. Meanwhile the police have been chasing Jimmy's MG convertible for a ream of speeding tickets; his dad, Vince, just happens to be the biggest crime boss in the city, and is now actively looking for his missing son; and everybody is out to get Jimmy's Blackberry phone for some reason.

Jake is normally a pretty laid back sort of guy - live and let live; but as the night wears on Jake begins to realize how much of a psychopath Nina really is, and frankly just surviving the next 24 hours is going to take a miracle.

And this is before Jake even meets Simone's Dad - a hitman in the employ of Vince, or Jimmy's mother - a loan shark and ex-IRA, who loaned Jimmy twenty-thousand dollars and wants it back. Before this day is over - someone's going to end up with a bullet in their head.

To kick off the experiment, we will develop a series giving ALL creative power to the audience.

No meaningless gimmicks, no artistic egos, no illusion of control. From genre and title to the actors and soundtrack, EVERY aspect of the production is determined by you.

Via open and transparent voting, debate and creative submissions we will literally be making it up as we go along. Whatever the outcome, the series will be available to watch online for free.

It might be great. It might not, but Film by Democracy believes film should not be afraid to take risks.

Modern day drama, based in Sydney. Approximately 90mins.  Film comments on the perception gap between the romantic notions of 'family' and reality, as well as societies attitudes towards adoption. Quite relevant given current events surrounding the 'forced adoptions' of the 60's and 70's, and the possible technological tools that social networks could employ. 

They breed and eat and clear the land of everything that lives.

A post apocalypse film set in the distopian remnants of suburbia where a young woman goes it alone in an effort to protect her younger sister from an army of brain dead mutants. Relying on no one but herself since the world's decsent into ruin she also finds she is on the hitlist of, apparent saviour of humanity, Unity Corporation. Now with her sister's and her own safety on the line, she must learn to once again put her faith in another or risk the her sister's death and her own.

Meanwhile questions are raised about the true purpose of Unity Corporation.

Jimmy's just your average dude, just trying to do his job. In the hospitality industry that is not always easy. Surrounded by indifferent people and the down right crazy, what is it really like "the day in the life of a bar tender?"
